# Frédéric Vergez — Technical and software architect > Freelance (Ikarius SAS) · Fully remote · Available now, about 3 days a week I design the infrastructures that move data between systems: high-volume messaging, data flows, integration of heterogeneous systems. I have done it from semiconductor fab metrology chains, with billions of measurements, to FedEx’s millions of daily messages. Today I carry out audits of RabbitMQ infrastructures. My latest design is a roaming hub for electric vehicle charging (Go, NATS), which gets three versions of the same protocol talking to each other. I work on audit, expertise and architecture design, for industry, banking, luxury, media and the public sector, part-time and remotely. ## Skills - Messaging: NATS, RabbitMQ, JMS — flows of several million messages a day; audit and optimisation - Architecture: Data transfer infrastructures, distributed systems, legacy system integration, APIs, interoperability (OCPI), security accreditation - Data: PostgreSQL / PostGIS, Redis, Oracle - Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Scaleway, AWS (serverless), Scalingo - Identity: OIDC, ProConnect, Keycloak - Languages: Go, Python, Java, Clojure ## Assignments - ongoing — Messaging expert: infrastructure audits, Confidential clients (freelance, remote) - Audits and optimisation of infrastructures built around RabbitMQ. - Oct 2025 — present — Lead architect, OCPI roaming hub, CO-OP ev (freelance, remote). Go, AWS serverless, multi-region (United States, Europe, Asia) - Architecture and implementation of a high-volume timer system: several hundred thousand timers active at once, firing actions through messages when they expire. - Fault-tolerant orchestration microservices. - Aug 2024 — Dec 2025 — Tech lead, Portail RSE (CSR reporting portal) — beta.gouv.fr (freelance). Python, Django, HTMX, PostgreSQL, ProConnect / OIDC, Scalingo - Security accreditation of the service, granted in March 2025 (risk analysis, security roadmap). - Platform hosting and running AI classification models for CSRD / VSME reports. - Managed two senior developers; co-product owner. - Oct 2023 — Jun 2025 — Lead developer, DORA — GIP Plateforme de l'inclusion, beta.gouv.fr (freelance). Python, Django, Svelte, PostgreSQL, Scalingo - Hired and managed two developers. - Migration from Inclusion Connect to ProConnect (OIDC), with two merged open source contributions (mozilla-django-oidc, oauth2-proxy). - Integration with INSEE and data.gouv.fr data. - Mar 2020 — Oct 2023 — Senior developer, Les Emplois de l'Inclusion — beta.gouv.fr (freelance). Python, Django, DRF, PostGIS, HTMX - Platform-side architecture of the exchange with the ASP information system (employee records): reference data, formats, automated SFTP exchanges, rejection handling. - REST API, geographic data (QPV, ZRR, INSEE municipalities), adoption of HTMX; the team grew from three to eight developers. - Nov 2019 — Mar 2020 — Project manager, Electre Data Services (freelance) - Led a partial overhaul towards Electre NG (OIDC / Keycloak identity, indexing services). - Apr 2018 — Oct 2019 — Senior developer and architecture designer, FedEx (freelance). Python, RabbitMQ, Scrum / SAFe - High-volume asynchronous messaging (several million messages a day) and optimisation of the parcel-scan processing flows across Europe. - Architecture design of a legacy module and of its connection to existing systems; Python knowledge transfer. - Jan 2014 — Apr 2018 — Solution architect, Ilem, on a long-term assignment at RTS (SRG SSR) (Geneva). iOS (Objective-C), Android (Java), Go, Python, Clojure / ClojureScript, AWS, PostgreSQL / PostGIS - Mobile apps: design and development of the first versions of Play RTS (iOS, Android), launched in 2014 and still in service, within a Scrum of Scrums organisation of about fifty people. - Winner of the first SRG SSR Hackdays (article classification, random forest); talks at EBU DevCon 2015 and MiXiT 2016. - RTSInfo data unit: designed the data infrastructure (AWS, serverless and EC2) for dozens of data-journalism projects, often delivered in one or two days; first versions of the health insurance premium calculator. - Apr 2013 — Jan 2014 — Lead Consultant Mobility, Blue-Infinity (Geneva) - Mobile architecture lead; audit, consulting and pre-sales in enterprise mobility for private banking, watchmaking and industry (Lombard Odier, Pictet, Audemars Piguet, Rolex, SITA, Japan Tobacco). - Mar 2012 — Mar 2013 — Lead Mobility Architect, Nestlé GLOBE, global headquarters (Vevey). iOS, Android, MDM (SOTI, SAP, Juniper), mobile security - Mobile architecture and best-practice guidelines applying to several hundred group applications; rolled out to the entities (Nestlé France, Nespresso, Purina…) and compliance checks of development agencies across four zones. - Architecture of mobile device management (MDM) for more than 300,000 employees, with architects from SOTI, Juniper, SAP and Apple; mobile authentication proofs of concept. - Joined as an architect in the quality unit, soon promoted to Lead Mobility Architect. - Independent mobile architect and developer, Montpellier, then Tours (freelance). Java / JEE, JMS, Objective-C, Android, Python / Flask, PostgreSQL - Java / JEE expertise and fixed-price projects: CASDEN Banque Populaire (JMS), BNP, MMA, Rectorat de Montpellier, Qualtera; team mentoring at Bouygues. - Designed and developed, alone and end to end, iPhone apps often also released on Android, for Orange, Nestlé, L'Oréal, ADEME (Éco-citoyens) and Airparif, often on behalf of agencies, back ends and REST APIs included (Python / Flask, PostgreSQL), with a hosting offer; work on the Voyages-SNCF app. - CultureClic: augmented reality, 900 geolocated artworks from the RMN and Gallica (BnF). - Senior architect, data transmission, PDF Solutions (freelance, Montpellier). Java, JMS, Oracle, JVM performance - Specified the processing chain for metrology data from semiconductor fabs (billions of measurements, multi-petabyte Oracle databases) up to the predictive failure-detection engines based on neural networks. - Architecture of the high-volume messaging and of the software harness for the AI components; JVM performance audits. - Data and messaging lead in a team of architects, coordinating two to three architects. ## Links - [Detailed career](https://ikarius.dev/en/parcours/) - [AI-titude](https://ikarius.dev/en/ai-titude/): Human in the loop - [Résumé in JSON Resume format](https://ikarius.dev/en/resume.json) - [Contact](https://ikarius.dev/en/contact/) · [book a 30-minute call](https://calendly.com/me--ovk/30min)
